1. The way an audience perceives the play is shaped by the choice of performance venue, as well as the set that is designed for the play. Indeed, all the elements that you see and hear during a performance are bound to shape your perception of the play. Which of the following venues do you think can best meet the needs of the play?
To me I see this being performed in a cellar like theatre / arena or perhaps even a thrust. I think the overall objection is make sure that the audience is as close to the cast as possible for I want the audience to be as submerged into the world of the play as I possibly can. I want my audience to feel slightly uncomfortable in pivotal moments.

Choose one of the follow and explain why you have selected this kind of venue. proscenium, arena, thrust, flexible

2. What are some of the challenges posed by the play on the stage design team?
I would mainly be considered is the first scene in how in the hell can I best portray cars without looking tacky and also creating scene changes that are not too obvious.

3. Choose a character from the play and suggest how she/he should be dressed. In what ways do you think the costume would help accentuate his/her character? Be sure to indicate which scene you have selected to costume that character. You might even upload a picture of the kind of dress you think would be suitable for that character to wear.
For Val’s character, I see him wearing very plain clothes like kakis or jeans with a white t shirt or something he would wear under his uniform.I want to give the impression that he doesn’t really care too much about his appearance and be very work driven. For William I imagines a collared shirt or something slightly upscaled to show the wealth gap between a poor white man and a poor black man. He says he is “poor” but he can afford a collared shirt. For Parker I imagine him wearing dark clothes when he is not wearing his uniform, I don’t want his character to overshadow Val’s. Same for Charlie I would choose tan clothes to blend in and not overshadow Val. For Alea, I imagined a long skirt with a light colored blouse for I want her to look like a regular, plain teacher who doesn’t try too hard. For Rusty I imagined him wearing a t shirt and a buttoned shirt on top opened, something that an old person would wear.

4. Given the content of the play, how might the lighting design help further the mood of the production? Move thru the play scene by scene to provide a possible progression.
For lighting, I would suggest a spotlight on the characters with blackness surrounding the edges of the stage for mood purposes.

5. Suggest music or sound effects that might be used to accentuate the mood or atmosphere of the play and the transitions between parts of the play. You might even choose to upload music or sound effects that you think are suitable for the play, or moment in the play, or as preshow music or transitions from one scene to another.
For music transition I would honestly keep it silent and add in the playwrights notes in the beginning
